It is very easy to customise the user interface in Uniwell Lynx and well worth the effort. Some of the benefits to be gained are ...
- Faster and more intuitive data entry
- Easier to read data screens and grids
- More meaningful reports and listings
In this article we will discuss how to edit the descriptions of some key elements in the software so that data entry screens become more intuitive. We will also look at ways to remove some fields from data screens and grids to streamline data entry and improve readability. And then finally we'll discuss how to change the colour scheme within the software.
Tax Codes and Price Levels
By editing your Tax Codes and Price Levels you can simplify the Group and Item data entry screens in Uniwell Lynx. To edit your tax codes go to Setup > Tax Codes. The descriptions you enter for each tax code will be displayed in the software wherever the tax codes are referenced thus making it easier to identify your tax rates. You can also disable any tax rates you do not require by deleting their descriptions. This will simplify your data entry screens as only tax codes that have a description will be displayed.
To edit your Price Levels go to Setup > Price Levels. Simply enter meaningful descriptions for the price levels you will use and delete any price levels that you do not require. The descriptions you enter will be displayed in the software wherever price levels are referenced and the price levels you delete will no longer be displayed.
The descriptions you enter for your Tax Codes and Price Levels will also flow through to your reports and listings making them easier to read and more meaningful.
Grid Columns
A number of the data grids in Uniwell Lynx can be simplified by removing columns that are not required. Simply click the Select Columns button above the grid and then disable any columns that you do not want included in the grid. And of course, if you change your mind you can enable them again at any time.
Decimal Places in Quantities
Another way to fine tune the look of your reports is to adjust the 'Decimal places in quantities' setting in Setup > Preferences > Other. This setting will also affect some columns on grids that show quantities. By choosing not to display more decimal places than you need in quantities you can make a noticeable improvement to the readability of your reports.
Theme
Uniwell Lynx includes a number of themes that can be used to customise the user interface. Each theme has a unique colour scheme. To choose a different theme go to Setup > Preferences > Theme. You can also choose to hide the Shortcut Bar that is displayed on the left-hand side of the screen if you want. And if you are not using barcodes you can select the 'Hide barcodes when editing items' option to further simplify your Item data entry screen.
Conclusion
With just a few simple tweaks you can customise the user interface in Uniwell Lynx making it even easier to use and providing you with information tailored to your needs.
